The Government of Belize joins eight other CARICOM Member States in providing humanitarian assistance to the people and Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes that have claimed 4,333 lives to date. Current reports indicate that 6,462 people have been rescued and 16,000 people are injured. Thousands of people are now displaced due to extensive damage to homes. Critical infrastructure and essential services have been affected. This collective response reflects the Caribbean Community’s enduring commitment to solidarity, compassion, and support at this time of crisis.
On July 12, 2026, a shipment of 88 containers bearing 258.9 tonnes of relief supplies arrived at the Port of La Guaira, the worst-affected area in Venezuela. The relief shipment was received by Yvan Gil, Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, together with Raúl Li Causi, Vice Minister for the Caribbean.
The Government of Guyana coordinated the shipment on behalf of The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. This effort ensured the timely delivery of aid to Venezuela.
Supplies include food, potable water, water storage tanks, medicine, diapers, hygiene supplies, mattresses, and blankets to support communities affected by the earthquakes and contribute to ongoing relief efforts.
The Government of Belize reaffirms its solidarity with the people and Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and remains committed to strengthening regional cooperation and supporting humanitarian action across the Caribbean.
