Belize Congratulates Grenada on Becoming a Member of the World Meteorological Organization

Belmopan, October 23, 2026.

The Government of Belize, through the Ministry of the Public Service, Disaster Risk Management and Enterprise and the National Meteorological Service of Belize (NMSB), extends its warm congratulations to the Government of Grenada on its milestone achievement of becoming a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

As a fellow member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Caribbean Meteorological Organization (CMO), Grenada’s admission to the WMO represents an important step in strengthening regional and international cooperation in meteorology, climate, and hydrology.

The Caribbean is highly vulnerable to the impacts of extreme weather events and climate variability. These shared challenges underscore the importance of countries working together, pooling resources, exchanging knowledge, and strengthening technical cooperation to improve our collective capacity to respond to the effects of climate change. Weather and climate systems transcend national borders, making regional partnerships and international collaboration essential to safeguarding our people and building resilience.

The Government of Belize, through the Ministry and the NMSB, remains committed to advancing regional and international cooperation in weather, climate, and hydrology. We look forward to continued collaboration with Grenada and our fellow CMO and WMO members to strengthen early warning capabilities, protect lives and livelihoods, safeguard property, and support the sustainable socioeconomic development of our countries and the wider Caribbean region. The Government of Belize once again warmly welcomes Grenada to the WMO community and looks forward to the continued strengthening of our collective efforts toward a safer, more resilient Caribbean.
