Belmopan, October 21, 2026.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries (MAFSNGI) has convened the annual National Vegetable Stakeholders Meeting with vegetable farmers and other relevant stakeholders to mark the close of the 2025/2026 vegetable season and the opening of the 2026/2027 season.
The meeting provided an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect on the performance of the 2025/2026 vegetable season, discuss challenges encountered, and identify opportunities to strengthen vegetable production and marketing for the upcoming season. As the 2026/2027 season begins, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to supporting local vegetable farmers through agricultural extension services, technical guidance, and marketing support to ensure that local production is responsive to market demand and that vegetables remain available to consumers at reasonable prices.
MAFSNGI encourages all vegetable farmers to work closely with extension officers and to follow the planting calendar as they prepare for the new season. Adhering to the planting calendar is essential for coordinating production with market demand, reducing the risk of oversupply, and ensuring a consistent supply of fresh vegetables to consumers. Through improved production planning, effective crop scheduling, and continued cooperation, MAFSNGI aims to promote a more organized and efficient vegetable industry in Belize.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries and, by extension, the Government of Belize extend their sincere appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to all farmers across Belize for their unwavering dedication, hard work, resilience, and invaluable contributions to the nation’s agricultural development and food security.
