Dr. Hon. Osmond Martinez, Minister of State in the Ministry of Economic Transformation, accompanied by Mr. Carlos Pol, Chief Executive Officer, met with His Excellency Amino C.Y. Chi, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Belize, in a courtesy meeting aimed at reaffirming and strengthening the longstanding bilateral relationship between both countries.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in key priority areas, including ongoing and potential development projects, as well as opportunities to further enhance economic cooperation. Both parties underscored the importance of continued engagement and the exchange of mutual support to advance Belize’s national development agenda.
Particular emphasis was placed on the role of strategic partners such as the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) and the Export-Import Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) (EximBank), whose contributions have been instrumental in supporting Belize’s development initiatives. Opportunities to expand cooperation through these mechanisms were explored, including financing, technical assistance, and capacity-building support for priority sectors.
Dr. Hon. Martinez highlighted the importance of leveraging these partnerships to advance climate resilience, economic transformation, and sustainable growth, while Ambassador Chi reaffirmed Taiwan’s commitment to supporting Belize’s development priorities.
