The Cabinet met on 8th December 2025.

  • Cabinet welcomed the report from the Ministry of Sustainable

Development outlining Belize’s participation at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Chage (COP30), which was held in Belém, Brazil. It outlined practical benefits gained by Belize, and new funding opportunities where Belize is eligible for several major grant windows exceeding US$250 million in areas such as housing, protected areas, early warning systems, technology upgrades and support for building resilience.

  • Cabinet applauded the announcement by UNESCO of its recognition of Krismos Bram and Sambai from Gales Point, Manatee (Malanti), officially inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
  • Cabinet gave its full support for the Ministry of Economic

Transformation’s timeline for the preparation of the #PlanBelize 2.0

Medium-Term Development Strategy and Action Plan for 2026 to

  1. The goal of this exercise is to build upon the progress of the Medium-Term Development Strategy to increase the standard of living for all Belizeans. The Ministry of Economic Transformation will set up a working group and will seek the cooperation of ministries, agencies and relevant partners to provide pertinent information, expertise and feedback in the preparation of the Medium-Term Development Strategy and Action Plan.
  • The Cabinet gave its approval for the establishment of pathways for bonafide global investors to hold permanent residency status in Belize. This shall apply to investors who have made commercial investments in Belize of not less than half a million dollars ($500,000)

and who meet the qualifications set out by the Ministries of Immigration and Investment.

  • Cabinet approved the repeal and replacement of the Public Health

Act, Chapter 40 of the Substantive Laws of Belize by the Attorney

General’s Ministry in consultation with the Ministry of Health and Wellness. The purpose of this exercise is to bring greater effectiveness to the scope and substance of the legislation to reflect the changing nature of society and emerging and re-emerging risks to public health.

  • Cabinet approved the introduction in the National Assembly of proposed amendments to the Money Laundering and Terrorism (Prevention) Act to ensure continued compliance with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations in connection with the risk-based regulation of virtual assets business activity to be conducted in or from within Belize.
  • Cabinet welcomed the initial report from the Ministry of Finance of the many Belizeans who took advantage of the first tax-free weekend for Christmas shopping and encouraged Belizeans to take advantage of the second tax-free weekend on the 20th and 21st December 2025. This is yet another initiative in fulfilment of #PlanBelize 2.0.
  • Finally, Cabinet encourages all Belizeans to drive safely during the busy holiday season.
