The Cabinet met on July 15, 2026.

  • ⁠Cabinet gave its approval for the introduction of legislation to repeal the Education and Training Act and replace it with a modern legislative framework that reflects the current and future needs of Belize’s education system, and to further introduce a Technical and Vocational Education Bill to make new and improved provisions for the development and regulation of the TVET sector of Belize.
  • Cabinet gave its approval to make amendments to the Millennium Challenge Account – Belize Authority Bill to ratify the MCC Belize Compact and Program Implementation Agreement.
  • Cabinet gave its approval to amend the First Schedule of the Customs and Excise Duties Act to give effect to the implementation of the revised Common External Tariff following approval by the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED).
  • Cabinet gave its approval for the modernization of the regulation of veterinary practice in Belize through the enactment of new legislation which will replace the Veterinary Surgeons Act to establish a clearer, more comprehensive, and contemporary regulatory framework.
  • The Minister with responsibility for Disaster Risk Management reported to Cabinet on the status of flooding as a result of the recent rains related to a tropical system that recently passed over Belize, indicating that the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) had deployed in the affected areas to the West and South of the country to assist those affected by the Storm. In addition, Hon. Henry Charles Usher informed Cabinet that NEMO is working closely with all the relevant authorities to make the necessary damage assessments and is prepared for further action if needed.
  • Cabinet gave its approval for the development of a Regional Forensic Science Center in Belize to ensure that criminal investigations are reliable, independent, and sustainable, and to support CARICOM countries with the technical capabilities of a forensic lab.
  • Finally, Cabinet extends congratulations to Belize’s male volleyball team on winning the gold medal in the men’s AFECAVOL competition.
