Update on San Ignacio Community Hospital COVID-19 Cluster

Belmopan. August 30, 2021. 2:35 p.m.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness informs the public that all staff of the San Ignacio Community Hospital who were diagnosed with COVID-19 during the third week of August have now been medically cleared. The ministry’s surveillance and administrative teams continue to enhance all public health measures to ensure that the workplace is safe and also that the community feels safe when accessing services at that hospital.

The San Ignacio Community Hospital and the Ministry of Health & Wellness assure the public that key services will continue to be modified but open to the public according to the existing surge plan for COVID-19 in response to community transmission.

These services include:

The Accident and Emergency Unit – operating 24 hours, daily

Outpatient services – 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily

Maternal and Child Health – 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Monday to Friday)

Labour and delivery services – available 24 hours, daily

The delivery of services at the Santa Elena Clinic has been fully restored. The San Antonio and Bullet Tree health centers will reopen by phases as the monitoring of daily COVID-19 numbers in these communities continues. The laboratory, pharmacy, and X-ray services are still available as needed in these communities.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness continues to advise that everyone accessing services at any public health facilities must follow all public health measures, which include, but are not limited, to the proper use of face masks, physical distancing and proper hand hygiene.
