Prime Minister Briceño Makes First Official Visit to the Republic of Guatemala

Belmopan. June 2, 2021. 2:00 p.m.

Hon. John Briceño is on his first official visit to Guatemala since becoming Prime Minister of Belize.

The visit was preceded by bilateral ministerial and senior officials’ meetings held earlier in the year.

Prime Minister Briceño is scheduled to meet with His Excellency Alejandro Giammattei Falla, President of Guatemala. The two leaders will be discussing matters of mutual interest for both nations including trade, security cooperation, implementation of bilateral agreements as well as migration and strengthening of CARICOM/SICA relations.

The Prime Minister will also meet with Belizean students studying in Guatemala.

The Belize delegation comprises Hon. Eamon Courtenay, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration; Mrs. Narda Garcia, chief executive officer in the Office of the Prime Minister; Ambassador Amalia Mai, chief executive officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade; and H.E. Jose Alpuche, Ambassador of Belize to the Republic of Guatemala.

Prime Minister Briceño is scheduled to return to Belize on June 3, 2021.
