Ministry of Transport Delegation Engages Taiwanese Officials on Urgent Restoration of Belize Motor Vehicle Registration and Licensing System

Belmopan. May 23, 2025.

A senior-level delegation from the Ministry of Constitution and Religious Affairs, Indigenous Affairs and Transportation, led by Chester Williams, CEO in the Ministry, H.E. Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and Jimmy Tseng, First Secretary, to discuss the urgent need to bring the BMVrals system back online.

The Ministry’s delegation included Ian Smith, Director of CITO, Leon Gentle,

Chief Transport Officer, Peter Williams, Deputy CTO, and Anna Loague, Director of Policy, Planning and Research. The meeting focused on the immediate restoration of the BMVrals system, which is essential in maintaining the efficient operation of national transport services.

The discussion was productive, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to swiftly resolving the matter. Next week, a virtual meeting with the system developers will begin the process of restoring the system.

The Ministry of Constitution and Religious Affairs, Indigenous Affairs and Transportation expresses its sincere appreciation to the Government of Taiwan for its ongoing support and continued partnership in strengthening Belize’s transport systems.
