Belmopan, February 23, 2026.
The Ministry of the Public Service and Disaster Risk Management hosted an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Appreciation Event on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Belize Grand Resort and Residencies. The event brought together EAP practitioners and public officers to recognize the invaluable contributions of professionals who support the mental health and well-being of public officers across Belize.
The Employee Assistance Programme continues to play a vital role in strengthening the public service by providing confidential counselling, support services, and critical interventions that promote resilience, productivity, and overall well-being.
Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Henry Charles Usher, Minister of the Public Service and Disaster Risk Management, underscored the importance of prioritizing mental health within the public service and expressed heartfelt appreciation to the practitioners who make the programme impactful.
In his remarks, Minister Usher stated, “Mental health support is not a luxury within the public service, it is a necessity. Our public officers carry significant responsibilities daily, often under challenging circumstances. The Employee Assistance Programme ensures that they are not alone in navigating those pressures.”
The Minister further reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening mental health resources and expanding awareness of the programme across ministries and departments.
The event also featured updates on enhancements to the EAP electronic form system and interactive engagement activities designed to encourage continued collaboration among practitioners.
The Ministry extends sincere thanks to all EAP practitioners for their dedication and professionalism, and reiterates its commitment to fostering a resilient, supportive, and people-centered public service.
