Ministry of Local Government Signs SCFMI Rolling Work Plan with UNICEF

On Monday, May 31, 2021, the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government and the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) signed the annual Rolling Work Plan (RWP) for the Sustainable and Child Friendly Municipalities Initiative (SCFMI) for the period 2021-2022.

The SCFMI is a child-centered and rights-based initiative that focuses on development and governance through the lens of children. This initiative is funded by UNICEF to support the implementation of programs in the municipalities for the advancement of the rights of the children and is facilitated by the Ministry of Local Government.

Present for the signing were Hon. Oscar Requena, Minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government; Mr. Valentino Shal, CEO in the ministry; Mrs. Lauren Cayetano, local government officer; Ms. Alison Parker, UNICEF country representative; and Ms. Paulette Wade, UNICEF monitoring and evaluation officer.

The ministry continues to work closely with UNICEF in the implementation of the RWP with town and city councils throughout the country.
