Belmopan, October 20, 2026.
The Ministry of Immigration, Governance and Labour advises the public that it is currently updating the application process for the Mexican Border Crossing Card as part of preparations for the launch of the expanded Digital Border Crossing Card programme.
The expanded programme is intended to facilitate travel for eligible Mexican nationals, allowing visits of up to seven days throughout Belize, compared to the previous three-day provision limited to the northern districts. This initiative supports efforts to encourage tourism, strengthen cross-border connections, and deepen the longstanding friendship between Belize and Mexico.
A confirmed list of application requirements, together with guidance on the updated application process, will be published shortly through the Ministry’s official communication channels.
The Ministry wishes to make clear that there is currently no application fee for the Mexican Border Crossing Card.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to await the official requirements and application guidance to ensure that they receive accurate and current information.
The Ministry appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as it finalises these arrangements.
