Ministry of Health & Wellness Advises on the Closure of Physio Therapy European

The Ministry of Health & Wellness advises the public that the application for Mr. Oscar Samayoa to work in capacity as a physical therapist was received and is currently under investigation by the Licensing and Accreditation Unit of the Ministry of Health & Wellness as well as with other government ministries. Mr. Samayoa has not received authorization or a license to operate as a physical therapist or in any other capacity based on his submission of the documents and qualifications presented.

The ministry has closed down Physio Therapy European, a private physical therapy clinic in Succotz Village, Cayo District. The services rendered are also suspended pending the outcome of an investigation.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness, after consultation with key partners, informs the public that Mr. Samayoa is not a medical doctor and should, therefore, reconsider accepting any medical consultation or treatment that includes antibiotics, pain killers and medications that are to be administered either via IV/IM. The ministry also advises pharmacies against dispensing prescriptions from Mr. Samayoa. Furthermore, persons who have received services and have been affected in any way by the facility or the owner in this capacity, are encouraged to report it to the ministry.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness understands that the closure of the clinic may impact clients and the community of Succotz, however, the ministry also has a duty to share safeguard the health of the population by sharing its initial findings and continuing to keep the public informed of any new developments.
