Ministry of Health & Wellness Advises on New Dosage of HPV Vaccine

Belmopan, September 13, 2023.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness informs the public that the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is now administered as a single-dose vaccine.

The World Health Organization’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization recommends that a single dose is sufficient to provide protection against an initial and/or persistent HPV infection.

The ministry offers the vaccine to children in Standard 4 and to 10-year-old children who may be out of school. Vaccines can be received through a respective school vaccine program and at all health centers countrywide.

For more information on the vaccine, contact the Maternal and Child Health Unit in the Ministry of Health & Wellness at 828-4482 or 822-2325.
