A delegation from the Bahamas Ministry of Agriculture today visited the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries. The delegation is in Belize to witness the 2026 National Agriculture and Trade Show, but the members have arrived early to visit agricultural production areas, including the BSI and Santander sugar facilities, CPBL in Stann Creek, and Spanish Lookout. The delegation will also meet with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and BELTRAIDE.
During their visit this morning, they met with members of the Ministry’s senior management team, including Minister Rodwell Ferguson. Discussions focused on mutual issues of interest, including food importation and exportation.
The delegation comprises Godfrey Eneas, Chairman, Bahamas Centre for Food and Nutrition Security; Carl Smith, Deputy Chairman, National Advisory Committee on Agriculture; Leslie Minns, Head, Trade Facilitation Unit; Dr. Jason Sands, Director of Agriculture; and Christopher Worrel, Director, Bahamas Agricultural Health & Food Safety Authority. The delegation departs Belize on Sunday, May 3.
