Minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government Visits Bullet Tree Falls Water Project Site

The Hon. Oscar Requena, Minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government, visited the Bullet Tree Falls Water Project entitled Improving Community Access to Safe and Potable Water from The Chiquibul National Park Through Enhanced Green Technology Infrastructure.

The project is being financed through the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) and the Government of Belize. The objective is to enhance the rudimentary water system in Bullet Tree Village, through the upgrading of the water intake facility, installation of a water treatment system, improving water storage capacity, enhancing distribution and house feed pipelines, implementation of an education conservation component and augmenting the power supply system by installing a grid-tie solar energy system.

A complete overview of the project was presented to the Minister followed by a walk-through of the different sites under the project. The Minister was accompanied by Hon. Ramiro Ramirez, Minister of State, Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government; Hon. Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness and area representative for Cayo North; Mr. Valentino Shal, Chief Executive Officer, Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government; Mr. Clifford King, Director of Local Government; Mr. Ernest Banner, Coordinator, Rural Development; and Mr. Wilford Pook, Water Board Chairman.

Implementation of the project began in September 2020 and is slated for completion at the end of January 2021.
