Today, the Hon. Dr. Louis Zabaneh, Minister of Religious Affairs, convened an engaging meeting with leaders of the Evangelical Churches as part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to dialogue on key national issues.
The meeting provided an opportunity for open discussion on matters relating to the Church–State relationship, legislative developments, and broader social and moral issues affecting Belizean society. Evangelical leaders shared their perspectives on the importance of upholding fundamental values, religious freedom, and the role of faith-based institutions in community life, as well as issues affecting families, education, public health, and overall social well-being.
The Ministry reaffirmed the Government’s respect for freedom of religion as enshrined in the Constitution of Belize, while acknowledging its responsibility to govern in the public interest. The Ministry and the evangelical leaders acknowledged the value of continued dialogue and cooperation in addressing national and community-level challenges.
The Ministry of Constitution and Religious Affairs remains committed to fostering respectful engagement with faith-based organizations as part of its mandate to promote social cohesion, constitutional governance, and mutual understanding.
