Minister of Health and Wellness Visits COVID-19 Vaccination Sites

Belmopan. March 2, 2021. 6:05 p.m.

The Hon. Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness, today visited COVID-19 vaccination sites where healthcare workers received their first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The tour is a part of the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ commitment to assure and support frontline healthcare workers.

The tour started at the Central Health Region in Belize City, where Minister Chebat was met by Nurse Melinda Guerra, Regional Health Manager; Dr. Melissa Diaz, and the staff who were receiving their vaccinations during his visit. The Minister’s next stop was at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan. He greeted the staff and congratulated them on the job they continue to do in the face of the ongoing pandemic. The Minister also visited the Santa Elena Health Clinic for its reopening. He welcomed the residents and extended his gratitude for their continued support.

One thousand healthcare workers from both the public and private sector will be vaccinated during this week.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness advises to get vaccinated when it becomes available to the public. Continue to follow the Ministry’s social media pages for official information and contact local health facilities for more information on when to get vaccinated. Even after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, persons should continue to wear masks properly when in public, stay six feet apart, and continue to wash and sanitize hands often.

The Ministry extends its appreciation to the media who accompanied the Minister on his tour.
