Meeting Towards Finalizing Plans For Boston Water System

Belmopan. September 5, 2019.  This week, discussions took place in Belmopan towards finalizing plans to extend water services to the Village of Boston on the Old Northern Highway.

Chaired by Minister of Transport and National Emergency Management, and Area Representative for Belize Rural North, Honorable Edmond Castro, the meeting was attended by Minister with responsibility for the Social Investment Fund (SIF), Honorable Erwin Contreras; CEO in that Ministry, Yvonne Hyde; SIF Executive Director, William Lamb; Chairman of Belize Water Services (BWS), Alberto August; and Agriculture Minister Honorable Godwin Hulse, who is a certified, veteran engineer.

Boston is one of only three small villages in Belize Rural North that do not enjoy adequate water services, the other two being Bomba and Maypen. When the current administration took office and Hon Edmond Castro became Area Representative for Belize Rural North in 2008, only 5 of the 23 villages in Belize Rural North had functioning water systems.
