Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Police Station in San Narciso

Belmopan, November 26, 2025.

The Government of Belize held a groundbreaking ceremony to officially commence construction of a new police station in the Village of San Narciso on November 26, 2025. This long-awaited project, under the Belize Integral Security Programme (BISP), marks a major step toward strengthening citizen security in northern Belize.

Constructed by LV and Sons Construction Limited, the BZ$928,509.49 facility will span more than 3,000 square feet and feature modern amenities, including dedicated offices for a domestic violence unit, a secure evidence room, private interview rooms, a crime investigation room, conference spaces, and on-site accommodations for police personnel.

In attendance were Hon. Oscar Mira, Minister of Home Affairs and Enterprise; Hon. Ramiro Ramirez, Minister of State in the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Solid Waste Management; Hon. Osmond Martinez, Minister of State in the Ministry of Economic Transformation; Mr. Carlos Pol, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Economic Transformation; Dr. A. Richard Rosado, Commissioner of Police; and Mr. Elvis Requena, BISP Project Manager.

This project forms part of the broader BISP investment of BZ$60 million, funded by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI). Once completed, the new police station will serve thirteen surrounding villages, benefitting an estimated 40,000 residents. Its primary aim is to strengthen the operational capacity of the Belize Police Department and enhance public safety for all citizens.
