Belmopan, July 3, 2023.
Today, Mr. Anthony Sylvestre was sworn in as the new Attorney General before Her Excellency Dame Froyla Tzalam, Governor General of Belize.
Mr. Sylvestre’s appointment became effective on July 1, 2023, following the announcement of his nomination by the Prime Minister on June 28. He succeeds Mrs. Magali Marin Young, SC, who held the post for just over two years.
Joining family and friends at the swearing-in ceremony was Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño. The Prime Minister congratulated the new Attorney General, expressing Cabinet’s confidence in his ability to take on the new role and tasks before him.
Mr. Sylvestre expressed his honour in taking on the new position. He thanked Prime Minister Briceño and the Cabinet for giving him the opportunity to serve the people and the Government of Belize in this capacity.
