Emergency Repatriation Exercise

The Government of Belize in conjunction with the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) is organizing a repatriation exercise for persons who may have become displaced in Belize due to COVID-19.

This effort is made to assist stranded persons who are well and wish to return home. It is also in the best interest of Belizeans as it minimizes the risk of additional responsibilities for the Belizean healthcare system due to the pandemic. Special arrangements have been made for a flight to:

Destination: Houston, Texas, United States of America

Airline: United Airlines.

*Travelers must make their own bookings with United Airlines. www.united.com

Date: Thursday, 16th April 2020

Departure Time:  12:00 p.m. (arriving Houston IAH 3:28 p.m.)

Foreign Nationals currently in Belize wishing to return to their countries of residence, either in the United States of America or via the United States of America, where possible, are advised to do as follows:

  1. Book your United Airlines flight. *Note that entry requirements to the USA apply.
  2. Register with us. As soon as your flight is confirmed, fill out the online form at the link: https://forms.gle/YWybE8dJD4nym3ZS7

This form must be completed and submitted by/for anyone hoping to board the flight. One application per traveler is required.

  1. Contact your Embassy, High Commission or Consulate, where possible, to update them about your departure plans.

 

After Registration:

Specific information regarding travel arrangements to the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA) will follow in the coming week.  For inquiries, please contact 614-7582 between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and provide your name and number or email.

Travelers are reminded that they are responsible for their travel documents and for covering all expenses for this exercise. Travelers must meet Department of Immigration requirements and must be cleared by the Ministry of Health (information will follow). Department of Transportation procedures for the safest possible transfers to PGIA will apply to all travelers seeking to depart Belize on this United Airlines flight.

The Government of Belize is taking all necessary health precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please do your part and continue to practice social distancing, avoid being in public spaces unless it is absolutely necessary, and practice proper hygiene.
