Cabinet’s Decision on Sale of Liquor during Christmas Holidays

Belmopan, December 24, 2022              

 Regarding the sale of alcohol during the Christmas holidays, Cabinet has decided that all liquor-licensed premises will be allowed to operate on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as per the standard rules of operation.

This, therefore, means that the closing hours will be as follows:

Type of License Time
Restaurant 12:00 midnight
Night Club 2:00 a.m.
Shop or Beer 9:00 p.m.
Publican’s Special 12:00 midnight
Publican’s General 10:00 p.m.
Convenience Store 12:00 midnight
Hotel 12:00 midnight
Member’s Club 3:00 a.m.
Malt and Cider 11:00 p.m.

In the coming weeks, the Attorney General will prepare draft amendments to the Intoxicating Liquor License Act to reflect the above-mentioned decision.
