As part of the process to determine its position on the proposed acquisition of Smart/Speednet Communications Ltd. by Belize Telemedia Limited (BTL), Cabinet invited stakeholders to make presentations on the proposed acquisition.
At today’s meeting with the Belize Social Security Board, the Public Utilities Commission and BTL will present to Cabinet. On Thursday, August 13, 2026, the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) will be invited to make presentations to the Cabinet.
After hearing from all the various parties, Cabinet will, at its meeting of Tuesday, August 18, deliberate and inform on its position on the matter.
