Today, the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development and Local Government officially launched two transformative digital software platforms: the Trade License Management and Administration System (TRALMA) and the Community Profile Information System (CPIS). Designed to modernize local governance and drive evidence-based development, these systems mark a major milestone in Belize’s transition toward efficient, transparent, and technology-driven public administration.
TRALMA digitizes the entire trade licensing lifecycle across Belize’s municipal and rural authorities under the Trade License Act 19 of 2024. By replacing manual, paper-based operations with two dedicated portals, one for public applicants and one for government staff, TRALMA allows business owners to apply, track, pay, and download QR-coded verifiable licenses completely online. Concurrently, the CPIS serves as a centralized, publicly accessible digital platform that offers detailed demographic, economic, and infrastructural data on rural communities, collected via KOBO technology by rural community development officers. Together, these tools eliminate administrative bottlenecks for local businesses while giving planners the baseline data needed to deploy targeted, equitable development interventions.
The ceremony was attended by Hon. Oscar Requena, Minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development, and Local Government, along with Mr. Valentino Shal, Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Giacomo Sanchez, President of the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry, served as the guest speaker for the event. They were joined by key stakeholders, municipal representatives, rural officers, and government partners who gathered to celebrate this landmark digital advancement.
By deploying TRALMA and CPIS, the Ministry continues to bridge the gap between technology and public service. These innovations ensure that both local business owners and rural residents benefit from equitable, transparent, and highly accessible governance that supports sustainable economic growth across all districts of Belize.
