One Hundred Seventy-Three Public Officers Honoured for 25 Years of Dedicated Service

Belmopan, June 25, 2026.

One hundred seventy-three (173) public officers from across the Government of Belize were honoured last evening during the 2026 Public Service Awards Ceremony in recognition of their remarkable milestone of 25 years of dedicated service to the nation.

The ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of the Public Service and Disaster Risk Management as part of activities commemorating Public Service Week, celebrated the dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions of public officers who have devoted a quarter-century of service to the people of Belize. The event brought together senior government officials, public officers, family members, and invited guests to recognize and celebrate this significant achievement.

This year’s observance of Public Service Week was held under the theme, “Transform Public Institutions: Advancing Innovation, Inclusion, and Participation.” The theme underscores the vital role of public officers in driving innovation, fostering inclusive governance, and ensuring citizen participation in building stronger and more responsive public institutions.

The awardees, representing ministries and departments across the public service, have played an integral role in shaping and strengthening government institutions and improving the delivery of services to Belizeans. Through periods of growth, change, and national challenges, these officers have remained steadfast in their commitment to excellence and public service.

Awards were presented by Her Excellency Dame Froyla Tzalam, Governor General of Belize, and Hon. Henry Charles Usher, Minister of the Public Service and Disaster Risk Management, who jointly paid tribute to the honourees for their years of dedicated and exemplary service.

In his remarks, Minister Usher commended the awardees for their unwavering commitment and emphasized that their experience, resilience, and institutional knowledge have been instrumental in advancing national development and strengthening the public service.

The Minister further noted that public officers remain the backbone of government and are central to the successful implementation of policies, programmes, and services that directly impact the lives of Belizeans. He emphasized that the Government remains committed to strengthening and modernizing the public service in keeping with the vision of Plan Belize, which calls for more innovative, inclusive, and people-centred institutions.

The Ministry of the Public Service and Disaster Risk Management extends its heartfelt congratulations to all 173 award recipients and expresses its sincere appreciation for their exceptional service, dedication, and contributions to national development. Their collective achievements stand as a testament to the enduring spirit of public service and the indispensable role public officers play in building a stronger, more resilient Belize.
