Minister Thea Garcia-Ramirez Nominated as Global Ambassador to the Global Coalition for Inclusion

Belmopan, October 17, 2025.

The Ministry of Human Development, Family Support and Gender Affairs was honoured to receive a courtesy visit from Mr. Marshall Nuñez, Vice Chair of Special Olympics Belize, who met with Hon. Thea Garcia-Ramirez, Minister of Human Development, Family Support and Gender Affairs, to convey that Special Olympics Belize has formally nominated Minister Garcia-Ramirez as Belize’s Global Ambassador to the Global Coalition for Inclusion.

This nomination recognizes Minister Garcia-Ramirez’s steadfast advocacy for inclusion, equality, and the empowerment of persons with disabilities throughout Belize. Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing national policies and initiatives that foster social inclusion and safeguard the rights of all Belizeans, particularly those most vulnerable.

In response, Minister Garcia-Ramirez expressed heartfelt gratitude to Special Olympics Belize for this recognition and reaffirmed the Ministry’s continued partnership and commitment to building a more inclusive society.

The Global Coalition for Inclusion unites leaders and advocates from around the world to champion inclusive practices in education, health, and community life for persons with intellectual disabilities.

The Ministry extends its appreciation to Special Olympics Belize for its ongoing efforts to promote inclusion through sports and community engagement, and looks forward to continued collaboration to advance the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities across Belize.
