Belmopan, September 26, 2025.
The Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, and Logistics, through the Belize Postal Services, officially launched the opening of its new Postal Shop, marking an important step in enhancing customer service and accessibility. This launch is part of a wider initiative to establish Postal Shops across five key locations: Belize City, San Ignacio, Placencia, Caye Caulker, and San Pedro.
In his remarks, Hon. Michel Chebat, Minister of Public Utilities, Energy, and Logistics, noted, “The Postal Shops are a step toward transforming the Belize Postal Service into a modern institution, one that meets the everyday needs of the public while simultaneously supporting national development.”
Dr. Leroy Almendarez, Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the importance of modernization, stating, “The Postal Shops are not only about improved service, but also about creating opportunities. These outlets will generate economic activity, support local communities, and contribute to national growth.”
The shops are designed to be convenient, one-stop locations for both residents and visitors. Dr. Marsha Price, Postmaster General, emphasized the expanded offerings: “In addition to core postal services, the Postal Shops will provide postal merchandise such as postcards, Belize-themed T-shirts, caps, and much more.”
Guests at the inaugural launch were given a preview of the diverse array of postal-related products and merchandise now available.
This nationwide expansion underscores the Belize Postal Service’s commitment to improving service delivery, expanding access, and building stronger connections with communities across the entire country. The Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, and Logistics remains dedicated to strengthening the infrastructure and services of the Belize Postal Service to better serve the people of Belize.
