Belmopan. May 15, 2025.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has noted recent reports that have highlighted several concerns raised by parents regarding an incident involving two students at Louisiana Government School.
The Ministry takes all allegations of misconduct, negligence, and abuse extremely seriously and promptly initiated a full investigation upon learning of this incident. The Ministry’s findings indicate that the injury sustained by a student was an accident. The students in question accidentally bumped into each other during play, causing one to suffer a cut to the upper cheek.
This conclusion is supported by an investigation conducted by the Belize Police Department, which independently determined that the incident was accidental.
While assured by these findings, the Ministry remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety, care, and professionalism in schools. Behaviour that constitutes abuse, neglect, or misconduct has no place in the education system and will not be tolerated from any personnel entrusted with the welfare of our students.
The Ministry continues to work closely with school administrators, teachers, and parents to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for every child.
